ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano shared the latest NFL trade rumors including a couple of Cleveland Browns players. Za’Darius Smith and Greg Newsome have both been tossed out as names to watch for before the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline. See what Browns Report host Matthew Peterson thinks about the latest Browns news and rumors on today’s episode!

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler On Browns trade rumors:
“Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II to the Buccaneers for a fifth-round pick… The sense is that Cleveland is open for business with several players, and Newsome -- with first-round traits and 42 career starts -- should draw interest.”

Greg Newsome stats:
INT/PBU: /2
YDS ALWD: 381
TD ALWD 3
PFF RANK: 106/110

ESPN’s Dan Graziano On Za’Darius Smith:
“Smith is 32 and probably not in Cleveland's long-term plans. So if the Browns can get good enough draft-pick compensation in return from a team looking for a short-term rental at edge rusher, this makes a lot of sense.”

Jeremy Fowler On Za’Darius Smith:
“Though Cleveland won't be looking to dump core players, it could be active if the right opportunities arise. A decent Day 3 pick for Smith probably will get the job done, from what I'm hearing.”

not giving up Newsome or Smith for a stinking 5th, period!

Why would you even entertain a trade for a corner, when Denzel is one concussion away from retirement?

I STG do not let Cleveland pull a Cleveland and trade everyone away… just give us a half decent QB and we will be fine with the weapons

I wouldn't get rid of ANYONE for less than a 3rd round pick. Z Smith for a 5th??? That's crazy. We'll get screwed in that deal. Z Smith is a top pass rusher in the league, consistently putting pressure on the QB.

But not trade news from 5th round too low

Newsome for a second rounder I would take. A third maybe but you would have to throw in a 4th too…maybe. 😅

He's supposed to be a great 1 on 1 guy. But he never goes for the ball. He runs stride for stride with the guy but just tackles him after he lets him catch it. But never reaches to try and knock the ball down. As much as he's underachieving, not sure they get rid of him if Denzel Ward will be under pressure to retire. And with Zak Zinter being a michigan bust, Teller is not a good candidate to trade.

Ain’t trading Newborn. At least not until we find out about Ward. And a 5th isn’t enough!

Yes on trading Newsome but no on Smith. Newsome you would want to get rid of during a reset as well. Browns have possible replacement already on roster in Mitchell + Berry 'n company do a decent job of drafting/developing cornerbacks. So, why not pick up an extra 4th or 5th and free up 13 million to go out and spend on a much needier position (WR??).

However, Smith (who you would get roughly the same draft compensation for) is playing much better than Newsome currently is and starts at a premium position the Brown's currently have no "proven" replacement for (Obo is much to light to set the edge on early downs). Lastly, Smith is locked in @ a reasonable 12 million for next season, so why weaken your '25 roster 10 months ahead of time?

No way trade Greg for a 5th. Especially with Denzels injury history

Can’t get rid of Newsome with Wards future uncertain and Emerson banged up. Let’s see if we can’t make a run at something?! Team played awesome last week and beat the best team in football

See the Problem with a DB is some of the most Impactful things They do don't end up on a Stat Sheet. Now I realize that leaves many of us with virtually no way to determine if They're Playing well or not. And those particular People should probably just keep Their Opinions to Themselves, because then Everyone else with no clue what They're Watching Adopt Your Views, and that's how We end up with a bunch of People that Think it's a good Idea to Release Joe Flacco, and We end up 1-6 going into Week 8....

No way, I would trade him...his numbers can be deceiving because as much time as the defense had to be on the field, is a wornout defense. JW and the offense helps the defense a lot. The defense is better than what the stats indicate. Everybody is better because of good QB play
