Top 5 Reasons Fracking Regulations are Whack

___________________________

Government regulations on hydraulic fracturing are inefficient and ineffective. This video introduces property rights and water markets as an alternative way to monitor fracturing so as to reduce the risks and take advantage of the benefits.

The nation is experiencing a natural gas and oil boom due in no small part to hydraulic fracturing, and for many states, this boom has been the driver behind strong economic growth. But like every form of energy production, fracturing has its risks. These risks are rare, begging the question of whether the current burdensome, top-down bureaucratic regulatory system is the best way to mitigate them. Instead, a property rights approach would hold people accountable for their actions and allow productivity to continue.

This is complete garbage. "The risks outweigh the benefits?" Yeah for the company and it's investors! Because THEIR homes, THEIR children, and THEIR drinking water aren't all permanently damaged. They get money, we screwed; Privatize the gains, Socialize the loses. Absolute garbage.

5 reasons why this Ad is whack
1. oil companies bribe government officials to allow them to frack
2. frack oil is the most costly both in term of economic and environmental issues
3. oil companies don't give a damn who's land they drank under or the health of the people living close to fracking areas
4. if government had to really regulate freaking it might as well make it illegal as it illegal in Germany, France, Scotland, many other parts of Europe and some states in the US
5. there are several options of renewable energy better than fracking, cheaper than fracking, safer than fracking, but that are not possible today because the same oil and energy companies that fight to deregulate their businesses do all what is possible to ensure that renewable energy does not get to the public

I'd rather pay more for my energy than deregulate ANY dirty energy production industry! in fact I hope President Sanders' gets a congress willing to back his outright ban on fracking

Did this propaganda just call regulations "whack"? Do they think that using slang from the 90s is going to get young people to vote against regulation?

0:28 _Both have major downsides_

Uh. I'm waiting for the upsides. Oh, you don't want to discuss the upsides, the reasons why we have those regulations. I see.

We already know unregulated markets are a bad idea.

You can blame... well just about every industry that got deregulated in the past and their atrocious track record, for ruining our taste buds on the corporate wild west. Do I really need to remind anyone about the most recent housing and financial bubble? That was deregulation at it's finest.

I love how they use bubbly background music, colorful cartoons and words like "wack" to try convince young people that the fracking company they work for cares about what's best for the people

But guys, what about the "economic benefits"??? Aren't those more important than saving people's lives?

When I first watched this miserable oil spill of an ad a few months back I thought it was a joke. Sad and revolting.

Why all the dislikes?
Classic Anti-Fracker: Fracking is bad because it hurts the environment and the communities they frack near, renewable energy is the way forward. Oh, what's this the government took on my advice and now my energy bill is twice the price, forget that I'm going to lobby congress; someone else should pay for me.

EVERY energy industry has to jump through these hoops. Why should an industry like fracking, particularly with all of the potential health risks it poses, be given some sort of pass on this? This is disgusting.

wow he said "whack" he's hip and relatable so i like fracking now

I don't know what the point of this is now. Oil has crashed below $30 a barrel, fracking appears to be dead for now and the legacy oil industry is also poised to create some major problems for the financial sector. This report should have been released a year ago.

This video was made by The Hoover Institution. They are a company devoted to influencing our political policy based on special interests through lobbying. Absolutely biased source on the matter.

flag this video, complain that it has harmful dangerous acts -> other dangerous acts and put in the comment section : "this ad promotes dangerous actions taken by a dangerous industry, distorts the facts on environmental damage by fracking, minimizes the huge repercussions, not only environmentally, but public health risks as well, and promotes the deregulation of an industry that has been shown consistently to destroy the environment of our one, and only, planet and home." please and thank you, but i dont need propaganda on my youtube feed.

how about I pour you a nice tall glass of flammable water and then you can tell me if you still think that there shouldn't be fracking regulations

their graft shows the risks at half the reward!! what the hell

To me, #1 is the worst. Why should Washington DC get to collect damages (money) from a company that harms a local area? Should be a lawsuit paid to the harmed party.

Error: Underestimate the costs, overestimate the benefits. Flipped like in the video makes it sound like regulation is a good idea.
