I LOVE my IPP boar. He's so sweet. Like a giant puppy dog. ❤

I've raised pigs for about 20 years. The only right way to deworm a pig is to get the dewormer in them, no matter how you do it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We got $350 apiece for our unregistered kune kune piglets. Boar is registered. Registered seem to go for $500 around here. They were just eight week-old. That money went right into the bank for pig food and electric fence.

Such a cool shot with the camel up on the hillside! Thank you for always sharing your adventures and experiences. Great idea with the garbage can to weigh them ! Pigs are so fun and so frustrating at times! But worth the work.. We started with a red wattle and an old spot. Decided we wanted pigs that are more manageable and we could butcher at the farm on our own. We purchased Julianas and Kune Kune. Our first butcher was a cross of Juliana and Kune Kune .. AMAZING meat. And the lard OH MY!.. Again thank you for sharing!

We have 2 baby IPP’s born April 20th we had to ween them at 3 weeks because mom was so mean. Those 2 stinkers act like puppies. They squeal if we ignore them and don’t take them on their “walks” they’re so spoiled.

Depends on what you like, and your circumstances. Flavour, temperament, foraging ability, climate suitability, landscape (hilly/flat) based on stature/height, and what you like to eat- if you love bacon, then something with great bacon potential is worth it, or maybe if you want more leaf lard for baking, a 'fattier' piig will suit. You clearly have children, so maybe a more docile breed is the way to go.

What works for someone else may not work for you because the situations may be completely different.

Berkshires are my favorite so between these two I would go for the IPP's for no particular reasons other than size which effects feed to weight ratios.

We have had pigs, goats, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, and chickens. I like the goats the best. Milk, cheese and meat while laughing but butchering has brought tears and making some not being butchering.

We’ve had Yorkshire, Berkshire, hampshire, Hereford and old spots. Our favorite is our Berkshire/Yorkshire sows and Yorkshire/hampshire boar. The piglets out of them are amazingly fast growers and our breeder pigs are well mannered. They are large but that lends to litters of 15 piglets and our momma pig raises them on 14 teats. He has lost piglets (Herefords) giving injections TWICE. Devastating both times. I’m not sure what makes it so hard to give piglets an injection.

I'd keep that big female piglet for another breeder, she looks like she will produce nice big ones gir u to sell or put in freezer camo....She will also give ur other pig a break between litters but will keep the steady flow of cash n meat coming into the himestead!!! Seems like ur method of doing piglets was the calmest I've ever seen....keep up the good work guys !!! Kindra Google vitamin deficiency that causes morning sickness..it more b magnesium not sure
..butxi know I never had sickness with my kids n MAGNESIUM is a good fix for headaches, which I never had either !!! Worth a look see n Doctors dont had but 6 months training in vitamins ...but vet get 3 years training ...

I kept thinking keep just the kunekune boar and breed to all sows. Including the ippsow. Yes they wont be purebred piglets but then you can get a other ipp boar later if you want. Just a thought. I dont know anything about pigs really.

Idaho Pasture Pig…..raised primarily on grass, not huge, gentle, and don’t destroy the terrain.
