Amazing example. I have been looking for an example on annihilators all over and of course you always come through! Thank you sir.

this has helped me immensely, not having to guess and check for y(p) is SO much easier. thank you!! :D

You've helped me more than my university could ever hope to. I wish I had a teacher like you.

Woah, so you dont actually even need the first step, thats so cool. Once you have (D^2+1)(D^2+25) = 0, you know that the part you introduced for the annihilation is the (D^2+1), and therefore that is the particular solution, and the one you started with is the general one once you find their roots. Then for particular, make it so you have derivatives up to whatever degree you started with, and plug in there to find what the coefficients actually are for it

if we were giving initial values, would we be able to solve c1 and or c2?

Can you explain why we used annihilation method after we find y_c? Can't we just find y_p by Acosx+Bsinx and write y=yc+yp? Thanks for the video btw it really helps ^^

does d2 + 1 only eliminate trig functions? or it eliminates any other function like 4x, 2x, e*x and stuff?

I don't understand something: are the constants from the homogeneous equation (c1, c2) and from the equation with the annihilator method (c3 and c4) the same or not the same? Why do I need to know which part is the particular function and which the homogeneous? Thanks!
