Hand stripes and letters are almost extinct today with everything being computerized. These are my tools I use to accomplish original stripes and letters on antique carriages and coaches. Building and restoring horse drawn vehicles involves learning to stripe and letter. Thanks for coming along.

Spring for mugs, tee-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies.

These are useful books related to the carriage and wagon trade.

These are all Amazon links and if you find them useful they can provide commissions for this channel.

Dave, I'd like to see a video covering wagon accessories in particular wagon jacks, maintenance on the trail, grease buckets, drag shoes, and rough locking.

The oil and glass are two great tips - as always a most enjoyable video treat sir.

I am truly amazed that you did not do any 'Art' with your brush and pencil expertise! You do have the ability though. Interesting explanation of the different brushes you use and their function. Also the use of a thin oil on them is a smart move to keep them supple and stay in their desired profile. Very neat use of glass as a practice canvas. I appreciate all of your skills Dave. A truly blessed, and might I add, a humble man! Keep up the fine work!

Dave, thank you! Last week I mis-spelled “stripe” as “strip” and couldn’t correct it. My apologies. But I asked if you could.show us your striping tools, never thinking that you’d go into so much detail. Thank you. Thank you. That was just perfect. I knew about the Buegler tool - my brother has a set - but to see so many brushes and to learn their different purposes, even to the reason for the short handles, was just fantastic. Gotta share with my brother now. Really helpful. 👏👏👏😊🫶

And yet again I learned things that I did not know about, probably will never use but they add to a knowledge base that help in so many ways. Thank you Dave as always.

Dave, you may not think you're an artist . . . but your coach work requires patience, craftsmanship, mastery . . . and art. Your art is expressed in the design, utility, and beauty of horse drawn equipment.

Again you have given a great insight into your world and artist talent. Thank you for sharing your world.

My dad was a commercial sign writer and used many of the same brushes you use. He used Vaseline and motor oil to store his brushes. Good care practices make them last a long time. An artist creates art. You certainly do.

Thank you for a fascinating look at striping. The use of a glass plate for practice is absolutely brilliant

As I get older, I realize more and more that the proper tools make a job better quality and easier. I'm always interested in learning about these unique tools so in case I have a need.

If only I'd had a chance to learn about this equipment when I was young. The idea of using a piece of glass to practice on is brilliant. If I'd known of that, I'd have been practicing...I just never wanted to practice on anything permanent. The use of the longer-bristled brushes is another thing I should have learned long ago. I'd always gone with the shortest-bristled brushes--now I see that was a mistake. I think I might just do my car up sometime...it's a boring white, so it needs some color.

My wife free hand painted the kitchen cabinets with flower pattern.
Got that talent from her mother who was a pretty good artist 🎨.
I would love to have that talent.
I can figure out carpentry shapes and angles just by eyeballing for my needs in personal carpentry projects.
Everyone has their niche. 😊
