"Yeah, this royal award is cool and all, but did you know I bought the same tie TWICE?!"

Never change, Brady.

The full size medal is for wearing in ceremonial or important occasions, the miniature for wearing when wearing black tie at evening dinners etc, the ribbon goes on dress uniform when not wearing the full size medal (i.e. at all other times) and the pin is for wearing on the lapel when wearing a suit.

Well done Brady!

Well done. This is the most deserved honor I’ve seen in years.

Brady has retroactively been awarded by the King

The little suite of things to wear and display in different scenarios is really nice actually. It shows the award is meant to be used for something, somehow. Thanks for describing the logistics!

Congratulations, Brady. It actually made me tear up watching this. It's weird to feel proud of someone you've never met, but I guess that's what I'm feeling. Brady Haran: hard as nails, posh as cushions.

Brady goes off on a tangent about buying the same tie twice yet he ribs Keith for liking window fixings and organisation tools, they’re just the same person a few years apart

Me, sharing link with my husband via WhatsApp: "What did you think of Brady winning the medal."
Him: "I didn't cry."
Also Him: "You did."
Me: "I did."

This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while and sharing it as an "object" was the essence of why Brady deserved the award.

(BTW, husband admitted that he did tear up a little.)

Well deserved! You build bridges to science that are paved with curiosity shared with kindness and decency. Bridges built to accommodate even the most fragile souls! We all can't thank you enough!

Brady, I'm a year late to the party here, but well deserved, sir. You are an international treasure.

I’ve always dreamed about bumping into Brady and thanking him for all his amazing work. I’m so glad he got this, and that he’s got well earned recognition.

I was trying to find a list of cricketers who've won the OAM and it's quite an exclusive list. The next time Brady meets Allan Border or Michael Clarke, he can greet them as a fellow Order of Australia winner. Also, 4 non-Australian cricketers have been awarded the medal: Sir Garfield Sobers, Clive Lloyd, Brian Lara, and Sachin Tendulkar.

That's a damn cool list to be a part of.

Well deserved, your gentle good humour and disarming curiosity are a credit to you on this screamy shouty platform.

I remember what I talked with Charles back in 1988 when he and his then wife Diana were here for the bicentennial. It was how I was to look after the tree he helped plant at Government house in Sydney. I'm was an apprentice gardener at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Well done on your well deserved medal.

Pretty cool backgrounder on the investitures. I guess if you have the opportunity to have The King in a future video, you certainly possess a good ice breaker for conversation. I would wear the lapel pin for that occasion. :) PS I found your channel through Adam Savage and his visit to the Royal Society. :)

Congratulations, Brady! You've done so much for science education and I'm really happy to see that recognized. So nice that the palace staff were interested, too.

This is an unreasonably perfect thing to happen to Brady. If Brady was a character in a story, this is what would happen at the end.

The funniest thing about this to me is that the Medal Insignia Care Instructions appear to be written in Calibri. The default typeface in MS Office.

Congratulations Brady. Most deserved. It is nice timing, with nuberphile turning 10 very soon.

Brady: So here's the tie that I wore to Windsor castle...
[proceeds to not mention what tie knot he used]
