I wasn't sure it would ever happen but we did it — we released a version of Tailwind CSS that includes text-shadow utilities.

Tailwind CSS v4.1 is here and it's packed with new utilities, variants, and developer experience improvements that will help you (or your LLM, you coward) build even better interactive experiences.

Check out the announcement post for all the details:

Thanks for adding the "justify-center-safe" class. That would surely help a ton!

This feels like Tailwind v4 is out of beta and now production ready. Lots of great new features and fixes!

The lack of backward compatibility was holding me back on v4 since the beta version. This is great improvement!

Every time there's a new release I'm simply floored by what you guys have made here. I still don't think most people realize how important Tailwind is and how it's COMPLETELY changed the building of modern apps of any language you can name. Well done Adam, you guys are simply amazing!

Thanks! I realized my eyes are effed, I couldn't notice any difference with the text shadows applied.

This saves me from using external packages for masking. Amazing features, Tailwind Labs.

I can't believe there are now masks in TailwindCSS. As a new dev, I have spent more days than I am proud to admit on making a fading/feathering image. Nothing was satisfactory to me until I found SVG effects. I'm going to update tailwind and hopefully can make my code much more elegant and clean thanks to these new classes.

Thanks for all the work the team has done!

Great presentation, Adam. Tailwind keeps getting more and more polished. Sick drumset and guitar too.

That justify-center-safe is game changer. I have wasted hours to fix layouts for this.

You guys won't believe how desperately I need these feature especially that masking. I used to depend on gradient for that. Like three div stacked on each other. One for the image, another for the gradient, then another for the contents.

Well done implementing text Shadow!
I heard next step is gonna be moving all that class names into an style tag and call it css 🚀

target input device is massive, surprised you're not highlighting it more! Imo its a much better experience to turn off fancy hover states (e.g. radial glows etc) unless you're using a mouse
