This is an introduction to my new project, a Triumph TR7. It arrived today (Sunday 18 April 2021) and it is the first time I've seen it since I purchased it on a well known auction site

I completely understand your love of a classic car due to nostalgia. My first car was a yellow Spitfire.

I have to admire you for trying to preserve a TR7 I have owned several and have had an 1980 for the past 40 years. I am afraid this car has had it, I would take what parts I could off it and scrap the rest.

You have a full on project with this one, I hope you’re not easily daunted.

Well I'll be following this with interest :) I think the front wings are going to be your big problem, unless they're good enough to patch up - new wings are hard to get, and really expensive when you do. Windscreen frame will need replacing for sure, but that's not such a big deal as long as you can find a donor (try Robsport or S&S Preparations). A fair amount of work, but very doable. You might be better off replacing the doors rather than trying to repair those.
Other than that, it's solid where it needs to be, the rest of it's just going to need a lot of patches. A big project for sure, but nothing insurmountable!

Henry, I hope you have deep pockets! That is a project and some more. Looks like it was a parts car considering all the parts gone and the way it has been stored. I would say it is almost too far gone to restore without a complete rotisserie restoration. However with your determination anything is possible. Good luck! Keep your channel going.

Back mid 80's my TR7 was a rot box.

I have a distinct feeling that there will not be many “episodes”. In fact, this may be the only one! Have fun. Better you than me, but always behind saving a 7 from a landfill!
