2013-2016 Nissan Pathfinder CVT fluid check & adjust - Any Nissan CVT w/out a Dip Stick

Показать описание
How to check, adjust, and or drain and fill your Nissan CVT fluid on a Nissan CVT vehicle that does not have a dipstick...

Please note that if you are changing the CVT on this vehicle you are required to Write IP characteristics. When you order the CVT from Nissan you will get a Disc with the CVT unit and as far as i know this can only be done with the Nissan consult 3+. If you are just doing a drain and fill you will need to reset the CVT fluid deterioration date with a scanner. This can be done with any good scanner such as Autel maxisys, Snap-on, OTC, etc.

So i put together the voltage reading that you can use to set the fluid level without a scanner. You would just need a volt meter and to know which wire either at the TCM or the CVT is for the fluid temp sensor. I will probably make a new video in the future showing how to set the fluid level without a scanner. Here is a list so far of wire colors for some Nissans.
13-18 Altima temp sensor wire: at TCM pin 13brown. at CVT pin 22red/white
13-16 PathFinder temp sensor wire: at TCM pin12 light green. at CVT pin12 light green NOTE: there is 2 light green next to each other pin 12 is the outer wire.
more vehicles at your request.

That was very interesting.
But Stupid.
I just did my wife's 2016 Pathfinder. I changed it cold.
I leveled the car and used a giant white nylon zip tie to check the level, marked it.
Then I drained the Trans into a calibrated paint measuring bucket from home depot. I marked the level and noted the amount. Exactly 3.5 quarts.
Then dumped out and cleaned the bucket and added exactly the same amount of fresh Nissan CVT fluid from Amazon.
Refilled and double checked with calibrated zip tie.
Perfect.
Total cost just over $50 bucks.
Easy.

Thanks for the upload! I really appreciate it and I'm sure you heard this alot but really thanks for the upload! I've really enjoyed my Pathfinder and hope to help it last as long as possible.

So, what's the purpose of draining the fluid at temp while the car's on? Why not just drive it a bit till it gets warm and then drain when off? Is the viscosity really going to impact how much drains if you're not between 98-113?

another option...a bit more pricey than the app, but scangauge 2 with xgauge has a programmable cvt temp gauge for the pathfinder. using this to do my moms car. also remember to cycle through p d n, etc to allow new fluid to reach all parts of the trans to get an accurate fill

Good video, but I gotta ask -- am I the only one that thinks this is a poor design to test this? "A steady stream" is a very subjective term (per someone else's comments that they would have said it was fine when you first started the test). I understand not wanting yet another sensor to worry about, but with every problem they have had with this design, it just seems there should be a better way than "let's start draining/refilling it until we get what I think looks right -- but only when it is between these two exact temperature readings that you need an external scanner for anyway"

Is this the same procedure for the 2014 Hybrid Pathfinder? I'm having trouble getting any information on how to service it.

What's the steps to change the cvt fluid. I hear there are more steps to drain a cvt. I got 2013 Altima sv.2L do u have a video on how to change it? Dealer want to charge me $260 to change it

Great video. What do you make of the Nissan service manual that says “when the cvt fluid slows to a drip”? I recently changed my fluid, and I just want to be sure I didn’t overfill. A small stream seems slightly vague, compared to waiting for it to “drip”. Thanks!

So we need a scanner or go to a mechanic shop.

Love your video, how much degrees should the CVT temp be at, when checking the CVT fluid on a 2014 Nissan Rogue SV AWD?

how many quarts does a 2015 quest require, on a transmission pan remove and replace and does it carry a transmission filter, i only have 45000 miles on it, should i be changing the fluid now for the first time, at what mileage? thanks very good video keep up the good work

I have a 2016 Nissan pathfinder with 111k miles I never changed the transmission fluid is it too risky to change it now?

With all due respect, it appears the fluid level was fine before you pulled out the test plug. It was doing a proper stream and then you lost some. You added 1/2 qt and pulled out the test plug and drained what you added more or less. I realize these transmissions and fluid are temperature sensitive as I work on Mercedes cars and they too do not have dipsticks and the fluid temp must be at operating temp in order to test. I use a dipstick tool for this purpose and the same method works on my nissan Altima. Something to consider, if you do a drain and refill, measure what you remove and replace the same volume with fresh fluid. Laws of physics dictate..
Thank you for posting and my compliments to your training and skills.

Nissan dealer told me you can’t check atf. Only fluid change. He said there’s no way to check it

Hi, great video, can you please help me find the cvt level bolt for a 2016 nissan juke 1.6 190 hp, there is no dipstick and also a lot of misleading info over the internet. Thanks in advance for the help
