AJ's face turn does feel a bit random. I think they could've sent him to raw to feud with Jey Uso for the IC title and kept him heel. As a matter of fact I would love to see AJ go to raw and face guys like Gunther, Damian Priest, Bron Breakker, Jey Uso and Ilja Dragunov (When he's recovered) because aside from Carmelo Hayes and Andrade. There's not a whole lot of fresh match ups for AJ on Smackdown.

So while I am very happy to see that AJ is being brought back into storylines again. I feel like the clock is running out on how long we've got AJ Styles on our screens and the list of opportunities for AJ on Smackdown is already quite limited so I feel like there could've been a case made for sending AJ to Raw in a trade where Smackdown gets American Made in return. That way AJ has more to do and new faces to interact with and American Made can rebuild themselves after suffering many losses to the Wyatt Sicks.

Carmelo's proven himself since being brought up to the main roster.
Always a young buck antagonizing the veterans but somehow being able to back up all of his barking.
Having this ongoing series against Andrade, El Idolo, has elevated both opponents.
Now with L.A. Knight looming as the United States Champion, here comes The Phenomenal A.J. Styles to solidify Carmelo even further. AND doing it in Tennessee, the birthplace of the Jarretts & the TNA where A.J. made his name, is simply icing on the cake. Carmelo Hayes is gonna be a prime player very soon. He'll get to prove that he is indeed H1M.
