Dr. Henry Draper, one of the first astrophotographers. Amazing how far technology has come in 140 years! #Shorts

He should've used Adobe Photoshop to bring out the details.

I just want to say (and take this how you may) when I want to WATCH astrophotography videos, I watch astrobackyard(quick and "fun"). But when I want to LEARN, you are my go to PERIOD. You make amazing videos that are extremely valuable to to me especially as I have grown from a complete beginner to a "more experienced " beginner lol. Please keep up the videos, ill be watching every one!

And someone after 140 years will use this photo and compare with theirs 😂

Imagine if great minds of the past had access to the equipment we do now.

Wow thats crazy in around 200 years we have expanded and developed so much technology but not the relationship we have between eachother :(

I am going to photograph Orion tonight. With the last two nights combined, I'll be able to get 5h on Orion.

The stars move a little if you look at the old picture and a new one

What is is total integration time of his and yours? I've always wondered that in the past the amount of light pollution was much less so getting better contrast details of large objects like M42 would not have required as much post processing as today. So seeing stark difference in details better your image and his is surprising to me. I would be keen to know about his gear and technique.

What gear did u use please? I don’t understand because I have a Celestron telescope. A good pretty big one and the only thing I can see in detail is the moon. Even Saturn just looks like an egg almost. So how are you seeing light years away so clearly?...

Honest question. Is there some color correction job done here is this WYSIWYG?

I had the same experience when I found an old astronomy magazine from 1982 showing pictures of M51. The Hale telescope vs. 12 LX200 40 years later. Not even close. Of course now, they can do the same thing, so I have to wait for my descendants to say the same thing in 2080.

Make your own lenses but polishing glass, then see how good the pictures look.
