Lying or exaggerating his service is the issue.

As a relative of two men who served in the Vietnam War, one of whom died in combat, this man makes me sick. I DO NOT honor Walz’s service. And I have no problem saying that. IMO He lost that honor when he abandoned his troops, lied about being in combat, and lied about his rank - all REPEATEDLY and done for personal gain! I didn’t take that honor away from him, he did it by his own cowardly actions!

As someone who doesn't own a gun, but believes in the Second Amendment, I find it disturbing that those who wish to expand the control of government over its citizens are the ones who want to disarm those citizens.

So he deserted his unit and then his state... gee! What a guy!!

The most disturbing thing here, is that THREE different so-called journalists, had no idea Vance served in Iraq. Great work there scoop!

That's why he didn't call the National Guard when his state was burning down. He's afraid they would call him out.

I'm a Vietnam ERA Vet. I make a point that I didn't serve IN Vietnam. You do NOT tell people you carried weapons "in war" when you didn't. You do NOT tell people you held rank that you didn't. You do NOT tell people you earned awards that you didn't. To do other wise is to dishonor your own sevice and cheapen the service of those who did. It sounds to me that in the National Guard this man would have been called a "paper soldier". It is sad that he could serve that long and still BE a Paper Soldier.

As a veteran and someone who lost friends over in Afghanistan, it really burns me for what Walz did. Also, he seems to not know the difference between the rifle soldiers carried over there and the one civilians can own. Other than looks, they are not the same.

Yet, Walz was the first to label Vance as being "weird". How ironic is that?

This was brought up every time he's run for office..and the people ignored it here in Minnesota...I hope that now it's a national issue it will finally wake people up to what creep he is .

On behalf of six generations of veterans in my family who DID answer the call to war zones from the 1770s on, Walz should back out of every room he enters from this point on.

16:26 I'm so glad this guy mentioned that some veterans will use their experience in the military as a way of saying that civilians shouldn't own certain weapons, like the AR15. As an army veteran who actually DID deploy to Iraq twice, those kinds of veterans that push for anti-gun legislation are the absolute worst kind of veterans.

My brother in-law served in the Navy during the Iraq War and he didn't see any action but is considered Iraq veteran. He doesn't go around and lie that he saw action.

What in the world is wrong with a concealed carry permit being reciprocated between States. Just having that permit proves that you are a legal and law abiding gun owner. The permit should be a nationwide permit anyway.

He’s about to be ripped apart by the American people, not the gullible people of Minnesota.

"I deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; my battalion provided base security throughout the European Theater from Turkey to England..." - Walz ...He didn't serve in Iraq or Afghanistan in a combat unit. Elsewhere, he says, "those weapons of war I carried in war..." as though he was in combat when he wasn't; he's dishonest... KDM

Walz actually didn't serve 24 years full time. He really only served 950 days. When you are in the reserves you are not in full duty.
