Meaning of Bangkok is lakeland. The land of too many lakes.( บึง + กก Bang + kok = Bangkok) In the passed there are so many lakes in the Bangkok area. Their filled all lakes to build road, building etc. When it raining many area are flood. The flood area is the lake in the passed.

Hi how about January or February next year will it be rainy like this? Visited Bangkok last month around Sept 17 to 23 luckily the rain is always midnight and it didn’t flood like this we enjoyed our first international trip.

This is normal flood. The serious one is going to be over your head, some part in Thailand can be to the roof.
