as a girl who’s always loved watching gymnastics and did it as a kid, i’ve had conversations similar to this. like when people ask what’s my favorite sport i say gymnastics and i’ve had multiple people tell me it doesn’t count.

that happens to me at middle school with cheer, all of the guys that we cheer for always say that cheer isn’t a real sport. it’s really sad because we spend our time cheering for them and they don’t appreciate it. we give them gifts as a squad also. it’s so annoying that lots of the girls are quitting because of it. so maybe they won’t even get to have cheerleaders next year.
