My friend is on it, and he said whenever they give an increase, they always put it towards insurance so you never really see it.

HA! We will never see it!! You can get an increase but there is a raise somewhere else to eat it up so this is kind of pointless

It will go in but come right back out before you even get to see it. Medicare and prescription drug coverage. Money goes right back into govt pockets

It's good that they are increasing it, but it's still not enough. My daughter was born disabled and I had to stay home to take care of her full time, it was just me and her. I had a paid off house, paid off car, and no credit cards so basically just utilities, insurance and the basic bills that we all have to pay and it still wasn't enough. Now, imagine having to pay rent, a car payment etc., on $850 a month....

Also, the cost for Medicare B will increase, making actual increase for social security decrease significantly.

I was hopeful that the Biden administration would make the base amount of Social Security at least reach the poverty level which is $12, 880 per year (a pathetically low number). I receive a check for $10, 008 per year. Considering that EVERYTHING an elderly person receives from SSI goes right back into the economy it should be a no-brainer.
