Due to some of the concerns retirees in Thailand are having over new retirement visa and visa extension regulations many are thinking whether Vietnam is a retirement option. Retirement in Vietnam, in my opinion is an option. And because of this Nat and I are heading back over to check out retirement in Vietnam options.

We will be looking into how to get a Vietnamese drivers license, how to open a bank account, finding housing accommodations in Vietnam and more.

In the meantime while in Bangkok I had the rare necessity to take a Bangkok motorbike taxi. If you don’t know, motorcycle taxis in Bangkok are one of the most efficient and quickest way to get around on surface roads in areas where the Bangkok mass transit doesn’t service. WELL! I remembered quickly why I avoid using this form of transportation in Bangkok. Watch and you’ll see why.

I have seriously considered Vietnam but my primary concern is health care.
An in depth look at health care at least in the major cities including prices would be great, thank you sir!

Oh gosh, this brings back a memory of my bkk taxi experience! I thought I was being walked to a car taxi after exiting the BTS and the gentleman motioned for me to get on a motor bike!!. I did not want to be rude and proceeded to be taken on the scariest ride of my life--I arrived at my hotel shaking and glad to be alive. I remember feeling the heat of the close cars exhaust on my legs as they almost grazed the mufflers! The hotel staff were amused at my joyous reaction to being delivered safely!

I used motorbike taxi in Bangkok and my knees were hitting buses as we pass them by.

JC! Love that you are going to Vietnam to vlog!👍 Several suggestions (If you have the time) : Please check on the hospital situation and ex-pat health insurance. I've seen several quotes that seem comparable with the costs in Thailand ($$$expensive).

Years of riding a motorcycle in the USA is commendable. Riding in HCMC Vietnam is a real test.

That looked scary even thou it was in slow motion! ;) I had a less but still scary ride in Pattaya, then we were 3 on the bike. Nice that you go to Vietnam! Visa rules, insurances, cost of living, etc would be interesting to hear about ofcourse!

Boy can I empathize with you on this one JC. I also took a ten minute ride on a motor cycle taxi in Bangkok a few years back and I feel lucky to still be alive. It's insane! The antithesis of our cotton wool risk adverse Western culture. Wish I had a Gopro back then to record it. Hair raising stuff.

Only done that once in BK like you scared the crap out of me going up a one way street against the traffic or u turns in front of on coming traffic, And squeezing between trucks with so little space thinking im going to hit my knees.

I think essentially just compare as many things as possible to Thailand while you are there. Cost and availability of as many things as you have time for. I would consentrate on those aspects and not so much the attractions and sights. Thanks so much for what you do!!

OMG! OMG! OMG!!!! My husband and I are meeting up a YouTube blogger friend and he’s a mutual Harley rider. We suggested renting a couple of bikes and going on a ride but he said bikes in Bangkok is crazy insane and dangerous. I can see that!!! Asking them to meet us in Phuket and do a tour around the whole island. If we weren’t daily big bike riders there’s no way we’d even consider it in Thailand. Holy smokes!! I held my breath watching that!! Hahahahaha
