In my jee prep the least i prepared was for chem, [not studied OC (except- GOC), neither IOC (except - Bonding and coordinate), nor half of the chapters Of PC.
So, I think you can crack both MAINS and ADV. With basic chemistry knowledge

2024 senior here. Physics easy laga(prep Olympiad ki kari thi woh alag baat hai nahi de paaya) but chem neglect mat karna at all. Ma kasam bata raha hoo bohot hurt hoga jab maths aur physics mein 100 aur 50 aa rahe honge aur chem mein 30... That regret ki thoda aur mehnat kar leta will hurt(mujhe nahi hai cuz i wasn't for jee, NDA nikal gaya) but aaj paper mein mujhe ek baar aisa laga ki chem mein bass itna ratt leta ki ioc ho jati.

I know...i don't have a very praiseworthy rank but still it's enough to get me into an IIT. Never ever take chem lightly juniors . Also give importance to all three subjects

Back in 2012 when I appeared.... Chemistry was the saviour even back then... If you want to refine your rank.... You should be scoring 75-80 + in chemistry

paper 1 mein maine chemistry and physics phod di and paper 2 mein physics and chemistry ne mujhe fod diya : ) but paper 2 ki maths acchi thii maybe 8 to 9 questions ho gye thee, expected to itna bhi nhi thaa

He is absolutely right. Chem is the deciding factor. Even if your maths and phy is very strong but chemistry will fetch you marks in limited time. The regret you feel when someone says they scored double than you in chem in lesser time while you gave that time to maths and phy is another level. But yes maths is important for that jump in marks.
