This is my initial impression and hands-on review on the the brand new 2022 OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M 60 Years Of James Bond 007 special edition.

Many of the things you don't like are design aspects pulled from James bond seamasters of the past.

I have the NTTD and I wanted it from the moment I opened Omega’s newsletter from October 2019. I found it’s design irresistible. Of course I tried it on and it confirmed to me that I liked it so I bought it. I did not care about its price; I had to have it.

I could not care less about the aluminium bezel and dial, no date, etc… which some have qualified as downgrades and complained about. To me these features are part of the watch design and if scratched can be replaced during service so what’s the issue ?

I think this new 60th Anniversary James Bond movies Seamaster has a very nice design and is beautifully made. I would have preferred the NTTD titanium case with this watch’s dark blue colour scheme as it’s difficult to return to the stainless steel weight and thickness after adopting the titanium lightness and slenderness.

Generally, I really don’t understand people who deconstruct watches piece by piece saying that an aluminium bezel is a downgrade, an aluminium dial is a downgrade, a lollipop second hand is a downgrade, a no date is a downgrade, etc, etc… to finally claim that it’s too expensive 😳

Ok, some people like the design or don’t like the design, some people can afford it whilst some others can’t afford it. That’s it.

Disagree with some of your points. No date, darker blue color, aluminum bezel, and aluminum dial with the thinner waves like the Brosnan Seamaster are more desirable to me. I have a bigger wrist than yours so the bracelet should be fine for me. This watch is a mix of the Brosnan and NTTD Seamasters. I dig it.

It's better in every way. No shitty bracelet, no date window, and no glossy bezel, thank god. Finally, a reason to get a 300m diver.

What you see as downgrades, are in fact upgrades to me. I hate the current wave dials, the look of the bracelets, and the date window. I like the older wave dial which this is a throwback to from the Brosnan Bond. The bracelet is one of my favorite parts of the NTTD watch I have. The date window is as it seems, outdated.
The aluminum being a downgrade is funny. My NTTD has been on my wrist for 10 months. Hiking, camping, work, playing with kids, yard work and in the ocean with literally zero issues. The titanium case has more wear than the aluminum.

I love the fact that the bezel insert and the dial are not in ceramic and I think it worth it!

You really need to study the history of the watch and of this particular design (James Bond goldeneye) to realise that this is actually a re-modelling of the original sea master 300. The bezel is also luminescent featuring two colours of loom (blue and green). Maybe look at the history of the original sea master 300 and then you will understand the design features of this model?
For mini I make a 300 fans this is actually an upgrade to the current ceramic model?

Thanks for sharing. For me this is a nice release, I like the old school understated vibe, no date, aluminium bezel which will age overtime and matte dial, but I do agree with you on the bracelet, and I don't like the mechenism and screws on the case back.

Thanks for the review.... How does the case size feel compared to the standard 300 sea master at 13.6mm and NTTD at 13mm? Does it wear much larger? I really like the sizing on the NTTD but I'm on the list for the 60th anniversary steel. Thanks so much

Beautiful watch not a downgrade to not have ugly date window and is the most beautiful Seamaster I have ever seen!

I much prefer this matte design than all the newer shinier models omega has been releasing lately.
I get it, ceramic is hardy and more premium. But c'mon, why must everything be shiny?

Edit: to be fair, my criticism is only for the newer seamaster and planet ocean models. Naturally, I prefer the older matte models - to me it's the contrast that makes the older models special, matte dial with shiny rhodium hands and indeces. As opposed to the newer ones where everything is shiny - the logo, the indeces, the hands, the entire surface of the dial. It's so shiny you can't even tell the time properly when it's sunny.

This is much better, but I'm just not that interested in the mesh. Why is the spiral all the way to the center?

A lot of your cons I would consider pros, but I guess that just shows the difference in people's diverse tastes and preferences! Part of what makes this hobby great.

It’s a beautiful watch. I plan on adding it to my collection to go alongside my 50th snoopy.

They need to fix the Malanese bracelet, it doesn’t fit smaller wrists, and the deployment clasp simply uses too much space.

What you get with this release doesn’t live up to its price point. Love the return of the original 1995 Pierce Brosnan Seamaster tight wave dial and its darker blue hue, but the lollipop seconds are objectively impractical and imprecise. I personally prefer an inverted triangle and lumed pip instead of 60 on the bezel, but not an issue since the bezel is lumed here. Caseback is cool, but can be messy looking if you want to enjoy the view of the movement. No date depends on preference. Milanese bracelet is nice, but bulky on the underside as mentioned, and doesn’t fit a diver’s look. It’s an overall nice watch, but +2000 pounds overstates the value add. Might as well buy an original Pierce Brosnan Seamaster from Golden Eye that has all the goodness with more historical significance

I agree, You don't buy a watch for what's on the case back....I have NTTD, it's very comfortable.

Complaining that this watch is a downgrade completely misses the point of the design of this watch versus standard production Seamasters. Was lucky enough to spend decent time wearing it this week - it’s stunningly beautiful in the flesh. Aesthetically it knocks spots off your standard Seamaster which although very pretty remains blighted by the worse bracelet in class.

How else would you make the gun barrel on the case back? Do you have any clue about the engineering to even get it that good?? I appreciate your opinion but date isn’t necessary and the movement is perfection!

Yeah you missed the point of this watch, but to each their own.
