June 2024 Walking around Bursa Mudanya Güzelyalı Burgaz city center.
Güzelyalı is a coastal town on the coast of the Marmara Sea, affiliated to the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
It is 29 km away from Osmangazi and within walking distance to Mudanya. It was founded in 1962. Its population is 15,000.
History
The history of Güzelyalı forms a whole with the history of the Mudanya Region, of which it has been a part throughout the ages, and is known as the Old Burgaz Village. Bursa and its surroundings were invaded by the Greeks after World War I. These places were the northwestern front of the Turkish War of Independence. The war on this front ended only on September 12, 1922.
After 1922, Turks were settled in the village that was emptied when the Greeks in Burgaz Village fled. Georgians on the Batumi side and Turks who evacuated the island of Crete were settled in the village through the exchange. The village, which had 15 households, gradually became crowded. In 1962, it was separated from Bursa Municipality by a referendum and connected to Mudanya Municipality as a neighborhood and took the name Güzelyalı.
Altınkum Neighborhood
Mudanya is located in the west of Güzelyalı, Kurşunlu in the east, Mudanya Mountains in the south and Kılıçbayır (110m) and Kızıltoprak (149m) hills of these mountains. Çakal Creek flowing into the sea from the municipality building coming from the south from Göynüklü direction, Meşeli Creek flowing from the Arkur Site again coming from the south and Aydınpınar Creek coming from the Aydınpınar direction and next to Sayılgan Villas flows within the town.
These streams, which are active in winter and spring, dry up in the summer months. Olive trees and maquis forest lands dominate the surrounding area. However, due to the ongoing construction, this plant is shifting to the empty fields further back.
Güzelyalı and its surroundings are located in the Marmara Climate Zone in terms of climate. According to the Bursa Meteorology Station, annual rainfall is 740 mm. Precipitation occurs mostly in spring and winter months. Precipitation decreases significantly in summer months when the temperature increases and sea water temperature is higher than land. Precipitation, which is 226 mm in winter and 204 mm in spring, decreases to 74 mm in summer months. The hottest month average was measured as 24.3 C in July and the coldest month average was measured as 4.8 C in January.
