There will never ever be “affordable” housing in Hawaii. Not for locals with local money anyways.

Thats great news that there will be more apartments and the unused buildings will get used, but the problem with these properties are the same like all other apartment buildings, high maintenance fees and high lease fees.

😂😂😂 affordable housing, it's only affordable if minimum wage people can afford it but nope I can only imagine what "business professionals" can make and that's not "affordable" maybe just for professionals that's affordable but for 100% of us making minimum that's just unaffordable

Affordable housing are built for those who make between 80%-100% of median income in the area. In Kakaako that was 75-100k. Idk.. it seems like a narrow target.

Lipstick on a pig. Same ole same ole. No option for parking so you limit choices. Seems like it's for people who doesn't have a vehicle. Nice idea but not solving the problem. Lipstick on a pig.

What does "affordable housing" even mean? Better deals for the wealthy?

The reason for people not being able to buy a house or even rent a nice apartment/condo, isn't so much the price, the TRUE REASON is there are no well paying jobs that pay living wages to even to be able to afford the basics. Good healthy food is practically out of reach for most.

Even the opportunities to learn skills or go to college to learn a career is non-existent. Politicians who represent the state and voters don't even make an effort to figure out a solution. I guess ignoring the implosion of Hawaii's infrastructure and economy is easier, then more money can go to them and their "passion projects" that not only have no purpose, isn't beneficial to anyone (except "contractors") and mainly is a colossal waste of money that should be used to solve problems.

Since the politician and ESPECIALLY THE GOVERNOR, the residents have to do their work and find solutions themselves. They will at least be more efficient and come up with solutions for the struggles they face everyday.
