The Canucks season opener completely SHOCKED everybody...

The Vancouver Canucks lose to the Calgary Flames in their NHL season opening game... Quinn Hughes and JT Miller linked up for a nice play but overall, the Canucks fell apart, Arturs Silovs didn't look like himself. Brock Boeser had a good game, but the flames battled back despite all odds and won the game, credit to them.

While it sucks, at least we didn't lose 6-0 tonight

The clutch block by Hughes into the cross ice pass to Miller to go to overtime is exactly why he’s winning the Norris back-to-back

I was thinking the same thing about the boys in the 2nd and 3rd just kept getting outworked 😢

When Calgary took the lead I punched my wall so hard my hand started bleeding. When Miller tied it I screamed so loud I woke the whole neighborhood

Fucking terrible loss. Haven’t seen the Canucks play that bad for 40 minutes since the Boudreaux era.

This game just guarantees that we will never see this again! Glad we got away with one point at least. Better than a 0-6 no point loss

honestly Calgary deserves a lot of credit, but Silovs has to stop those pucks from way-downtown. Thats why we lost

I think last night was a good wake up call to the boys that what they accomplished last season is all last season, this is a new season and you have to re-establish your team's identity.

There were games last season where we take a huge lead in the first and just sort of played passive hockey in the second and third period to close it out. Difference was, Demko was in net and he always stops the shots and prevent the other team to gain any momentum with his saves.

We have to learn how to play without having an elite level Vezina goalie in net. I believe this team have the personnel to succeed, but just like the old saying goes "You can have all the skills in the world, but when hardwork outwork the skill, hardwork comes out on top." That's exactly what happened to us last night.

We were winning in the first period not just because we have a more skilled line up, it's because we were outworking the Flames. We stopped doing that in the second and third period and that's why we lost.

Hronek’s jock strap is still hanging in the rafters of Rogers arena

I was really surprised when I got back home to see the score. Completely outstanding work by both teams

Canucks went from looking like playoff contenders to forgetting how to play defence in a span of 20 minutes. Hopefully this is first game of the season type thing and it doesn’t happen again anytime soon.

Did this really surprise anyone? Lmao. Can’t be the only one that felt it in their bones that this would happen

Even though it sucks at least we didn’t lose 6-0 like the oilers did

Doesn’t matter if we lost tbh. It was entertaining. This is what gets the fan into it. Some minor adjustments and they’ll be fine

Could be worse, could be the OIlers opening game :)

Vancouver did not respect Calgary and thought the game was done after 20 and proves you need to have a killer instinct and finish teams when you have the opportunity.

Doesn't matter, the shames will be golfing and the Canucks will be romping through the post season.

When they swapped Hughes with Hronek in OT I thought that was an odd choice.

Teams will be lighting up that high blocker side on Silovs every night.
