Please meet our latest Tourism Hero: Kellie Hodkinson-Jones, a housekeeping supervisor at Heritage Hotel Queenstown!

Housekeeping is a crucial, but underappreciated role in our industry, so we are very excited to tell Kellie’s story to highlight this great career choice, the progression opportunities involved and the personal wins too.

Kellie knew she wanted to travel and work in tourism, but was also shy and did not want to work a frontline role. Luckily, a mock-interview for her Queenstown Resort College course led to a job offer in the housekeeping team at Heritage Hotel. Kellie views her internship (and eventual role as a room attendant) as a great stepping stone for building her confidence, which only grew as she progressed her career to self checker and now supervisor. She is really enjoying the leadership and responsibility that comes with her new role and her future career goal now involves event management – a very extroverted role indeed!
