Samnite Warriors (speed draw)

Made with iOS IbisPaint. Track used is the Civilization V Rome War Theme, I don't own the rights to it.

A pair of Samnite warriors from the 4th to 3rd centuries BC, the first wearing more 'traditional' Italian gear of a bronze chest guard (this one slightly fancier, of the triple disc variety); an 'oblong' scutum (yes I know all scuta are oblong) - like a regular oval scutum with the top cut off - and a montefortino helmet with four-feather crest.

The second figure wears more expensive gear: Hellenic-style muscled cuirass, greaves, and argive shield. His attic helmet is based on the one found at Lucania, with winged decorations which I find rather silly looking but oh well.

Troopers like the second figure would've found themselves fighting on both sides of the Punic Wars.

Sabus was the name of the god of the Sabines, of whom the Samnites were an offshoot people.
