It saddens me the fact that we will probably never see an analogue BMW cluster ever again. From the iconic classic orange cluster to the newer white clusters they will never be forgotten.

I’m glad mine didn’t come with Live Cockpit, looks far too confusing and in my opinion too off putting, I’m worried with way cars are heading (electric in particular) that there are too many distractions on the dash which could be dangerous.

I have the live cockpit on my 128ti and I much prefer it to be honest. Its far more customisable with more displays (e.g. Spotify song title and graphics) and after a week or so its not as confusing to use. I also prefer the analogue looking fuel and temp gauges as oppose to the digital dots. And lets not forget it also comes with the larger central display so a win-win. I will agree that the reverse rev counter is a drag, but then its something BMW could easily amend in future firmware upgrades.

Thanks for the vid!!! No one seems to talk about this but at the end it is roughly 3 grant on top! I've order mine without LiveCockpit, ordered glas rooftop and sport seating instead and still saved 1.5 grant. Bit too much for gadget I would say ;-)

I ordered mine without live cockpit professional, but been told my car will now come with it. I don’t have to pay the difference as I never specced it on my order.

I was told the reason for the forced upgrade is that BMW have run out of the parts for the standard dials.

Make of that what you will.

Bro, fully agree with you, it's a shame that BMW dropped the beggar display version. A couple of weeks back I test drove the 128Ti with the live cockpit, and it was WAY too busy for me, too much ongoing on and that really distracts from the driving. The car itself drives nicely though, but the engine feels a little tame compared to my Stage 2 Mk7. But maybe that's not a fair comparison.. ;-)

Also, I was advised by a BMW owning neighbour to invest in a steering lock. His was broken into recently and there have been a spate of BMWs broken into. The thieves are after the steering wheels and infotainment systems. Getting my lock tomorrow, having seen photos of damage caused I want a deterrent for these scum bags.

Everyone shitting on this has never driven any of the new BMW cars. I was the same ykno I also thought that the new panels were absolutely disgusting and it lacks the cockpit feeling. But after driving one I changed my mind. I wouldnt want it any other way now.

A few months ago I have rented a BMW 118i with the new live cockpit instrument clusters. And more recently I have rented a Peugeot 208 with the same kind of reverse instrument clusters. It's nearly impossible to read. I cannot understand why BMW and Peugeot have chosen such stupid reverse instrument clusters.

I too prefer analogue dials but in this 1-series i feel the Professional Live digital is much nicer even if not perfect as the analogue dials look cheaply stuck-on top of a basic low-res small digital screen - not premium looking at all! And the non-round hexagonal frame with the non-precise fuel gauge looks terrible!
I really did like the last-gen analogue dials - neat, easy to read & clear.

Thanks for doing a comparison between the Live Cockpit Pro and Plus. Should I ask my dealer for a refund if they delivered me a car spec with Live Cockpit Pro but the car end up having Live Cockpit Plus (paid $900 USD for an option that did not end up in the car)? I already paid for the Premium Package and its absurd they charged me extra for it. Are there other menu options that can be shown from BC other than mileage, MPG, media, sport display, G meter? Like calendar, recent directions, tire temp?
