Yamaha R1 vs Suzuki GSXR 1000 - Knox Superbike Shootout 🔥 P.1 The road.

Though in recent decline, Superbikes are still the pinnacle of motorcycle advancement, performance, technology. They represent the biggest thrill in the motorcycling and are designed to do just one thing, go fast!
In this 2 part superbike shootout test, we put 2 of the most famous sportsbikes ever made head to head, on the road and on the track!

Harking back to 2001, the GSXR 1000 is legendary. Throughout its history, it’s won and lost championships, been plagiarised, battered and bruised and is currently facing extinction by the Eurocratic powers that be. But the GSXR in this test will endure, only facing death by thrashing or crashing! Most recently updated in 2017, our GSXR has a 200hp inline 4 motor with VVT, 200kg wet weight and sports an exhaust the size of a nuclear bomb.

Yamaha’s R1 is equally famous, the latest edition packs a 200hp wizz banging cross plane crank 4 cylinder. The modern R1 is a no compromise weapon and has experienced huge amounts of success in racing and in the showroom since its 2015 introduction. With sharp and compact looks, a sound more akin to a MotoGp bike and a top drawer electronics package, it’s a tough bike to beat.

Thanks for watching part one of the Knox Superbike shootout. In part 2, join us we turn the heat up, take a deep breath and twist the throttle till it won’t go any further at arguably the UK’s most gnarly track, Oulton Park!

That’s a tough one. Two great, but very different bikes. I’d probably got for the Suzuki, purely for a bit more comfort and that ballistic motor. The R1 soundtrack is epic and looks menacing. I think the upgrades on the Suzuki will probably give it the edge on track. Look forward to part 2. Awesome work 👏

Both beautiful. I really love all the 4 SS 1000 Japanese bikes. In my opinion you can't go wrong with any of them. They are powerful machines, beautiful to look at, fun to ride and above all .. RELIABLE!

I wish more reviewers made bike reviews like you guys, it’s so friendly from a “normal” person’s perspective. Kudos to you and your honest opinions. Loved every bit of it!

You just can't beat Gixxer design and decal looks. Suzuki for the win

Just found this channel after getting back into motorcycle riding…I’m guessing you make protective gear? I’d buy your stuff just because of this content and your presentation! Well crafted video! Even though you guys took a “pillion seat” in this, you come off as very genuine gents. I’m pretty judgemental and don’t like most people😇, including many motorcycle personalities🤷🏼‍♂️, but I get the impression I could grab a beer with you guys and have a hoot! I appreciate the narration as well. A new subscriber for sure and a future customer (once I wear out all the gear I already bought last month LOL😅), now heading over to your website to see what the hell you guys even do besides making great videos

Good video!
A correction: The steering damper in the stock GSXR is rightly a bit underdamped.
However, The stock front forks/rear shock are far far superior Twin tube style solid piston architecture units but with softer spring rates for the street. (Especially the rear shock)
This is the same architecture as Ohlins TTx GP shock / Ohlins NPX used in FGR300 fork

The Nitron NTR3 race pro is an inferior 'De Carbon' architecture shock but with probably stiffer springs.
Same goes with the TVT PRO fork cartridge. It's an open style 25mm piston cartridge kit with probably stiffer springs
The Nitron units can provide more damping based on how they are shimmed but cannot match the stock units in small bump absorption

Get the stock Showa to a quality suspension shop who can replace the springs and adjust the shims. These things won WSBK titles.

Loved the video, I had a 2018 gsxr1000 for a year before someone turned out in front of me and that was it for that bike. I was genuinely shocked to hear about the suspension woes on the gsxr, when I had mine I pushed it HARD on the road, looking at it now I’m glad nothing bad happened to me….it’s just so weird because I never once experienced those problems and as I said I rode it hard.

I totally agree with your opinion on the engine, it is an absolute animal.

Both bikes are lovely.
I've owned Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Ducati and, ahem, HD motorcycles in my 5 decades of riding.
I've never, ever, had any 'issues' with either my Suzuki or Kawasaki motorbikes and I simply cannot say that for the others. I've never owned a Yamaha, aside from a snare drum...
At this point in life, I'll take the relative plushness and comfort of the Gixxer even though the aesthetics on the R1 are infinitely better...thanks!

Gixxer for bang for your buck. R1 for the looks.

Thanks for the video albeit incomplete.
Anyway.... easy to say have the Suzuki GSXR any day of the week 👍👍👍

Especially when the famous Suzuki Gixxer has just won the Motogp here in Australia 🇦🇺 👍

thank you so much for this vid. you put a huge amount of effort in it that is clear to see, and lovely to see a comparison between two bikes that don't cost 25k... but two popular peoples favourites. great job to all involved. can't wait for part two

Anyone else find it bizarre that the comments on most review videos these days are just praising the video and creators rather than talking about the video's subject matter? Makes me wonder if the majority of commenters are just bots and the dead internet theory is true. Anyways, the R1 wins just because of its sound ❤️

The cinematics and edits in this video was just amazing, id defo go for r1 but i wouldn’t mind a 2009 gsxr 1000 as they were rockets back then
