We recorded 10 GB of photos and video on our iPhone 14 Pro. And because it still has a Lightning port we should find out what the fastest way to get the files off is. #shorts

they made the line "what's on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone" very real

Plot twist: iPhone 15 has a type C connector, but is limited to USB 2.0 speeds.

yup, gotta love the fact that they introduced lightning the year before usb-c and have stuck to it despite all signs pointing to it being bad

The first iPhone with USB C should've been the 8 or 10, imagine how fast it would've been adopted if Apple put it on one of those

I know Apple is only switching to USB-C next year because the EU is forcing them, but they really should’ve done it this year.

So true! Last year we were shooting a little promo video for our work website, we shot with a couple of iPhones and then I was going to edit it on my computer, It was an absolute nightmare trying to just get the video files off my iPhone onto my Mac!

What I still don’t understand is why they didn’t the Lightning USB 3 port from the 10.5in iPad Pro. As far as I’m aware, those are pretty much the only devices that used USB 3 in some form

There’s no way I’m upgrading my iPhone until USB-C

I love my 14 but having to get a special, worse cable for it is so annoying. My MacBook is USB-C and my Android phone was USB-C so they shared a charger, it's ironic that my Android phone worked together better with the Mac than the iPhone from a cable management stand point

Based on apple..
You will get type-c but if you want higher speed than usb 2.0 you will need special dongle.

Here's my Prof Tech Tip for all of you. Setup Resilio Sync and configure it to backup your photos folder. It'll just automatically dump it to whatever it's sync'd to at the max speed of you connection, locally or otherwise.

I hope you all realize that even with USB-C, it can still have USB 2.0 wiring and speed.

connect to server with the files app is one of the best things ive used in terms of home networking. makes file so fast and simple.

Won’t buy another iPhone until they sort out the lighting port fiasco. It’s such ancient technology, everything else I use is usb c

Careful with airdropping videos. I don’t know if this is still the case with the ProRes files but H265 files got heavily compressed when send over airdrop.

Meanwhile the clowns on r/iphone: “we don’t want USB-C because Apple is perfect and can do no wrong, so lightning is an amazing connector”.

The iPhone X should have been the first iPhone with usb c…

The worst part is that Lightning actually supports 5 GB/s of transfer speed but Apple just doesn’t feel like including that feature

I’ve heard a lot of people say they want USB-C for iPhone already and while I’m not opposed to faster speeds, this has never been an issue for me personally. I guess I just don’t often load pictures from my phone to my Mac and icloud is just way too simple for me to ever consider using the actual wire to transfer files. Airdrop is for when it’s convenient like if I was trying ti send myself a link to a website or some small amount of files to someone near me.

Unfortunately USB-C on iPhone would just force me to replace the wires I’ve been using over the years. Again I’m not opposed to it, I just didn’t know so many people cared so much to have it.

There actually is one device supporting usb 3.0 via lightning, the first gen iPad Pro
