Having just finished with 4 players. And 1+Prologue into the game with 2 players. I would say a higher character count ramps up the difficulty. It was a narrow and lucky victory. Supremely lucky.

Quinn's example of taking all the cubes off of São Paulo only to immediately get it drawn as an epidemic is actually quite a good play. Unlike normal Pandemic, in this game epidemics never place disease (or as this game calls them, plague) cubes down. Rather, they remove all supply cubes from that city, thereby making it easier for the infection phase of the turn to place plague cubes. By removing all the supplies yourself first, you're putting them in a safe spot where the epidemic card can't touch them.

All that said, once the epidemic is over, you probably want to put those supply cubes right back in São Paulo ASAP.

Actually when you draw the bottom infection card in an Epidemic you remove all supply cubes from that city, but don’t add any Plague cubes if there aren’t any

it was turn one. I wanted to move from Atlanta down South, quarantining my way through. Instead my group argued that it wouldn't be worth it and to fly to Asia to grab the 3 stack in Soeul. Since it was only turn one why not go for what you know would pop. After a few minutes I go fine! I draw Mexico city, giving everyone the told you look. Next player goes. He doesn't do South. He draws the epidemic, bringing 3 to Miami, shuffles, and draws Miami and Mexico city. Spreading yellow into the blue zones, and breaking Miami. Next player goes, doesn't deal with yellow. He draws Washington d.c., because of the Miami problem this now pushes D.C. past 4, infecting the whole coast, REPOPING MIAMI! Turn one isn't even over and the whole area is in ruins and we haven't even started yet! After that I was "promoted" to never listen to the group.

It's been months and Miami popping is an inside joke that spans other games.

As an American, I wanted to be offended by your about not knowing Geography....but you, sadly, are correct....I have no clue. Pandemic and Ticket to Ride are where I get the little knowledge I have.

Still only half way through Season 1, but for me its mostly about the excitement of opening stuff (aka I'm a shallow gamer) so I think Season 2 was made for me :D

Gotta say, that Sao Paolo example is terrible. If I were to pick up all the cubes at a location RIGHT before an epidemic would have taken all of those cubes, I would be very happy.

I knew I was going to like this video but I wanted to hold off it in the like button until it really impressed me.
1:47 it succeeded, damn it Quinns with your mad max costume! You win this round!

It’s really interesting how Quinns thought Season 2 was too easy and the Dice Tower crew thought it was more difficult that Season 1. I wonder if it’s just a matter of the game is a new spin off mechanically so some groups will latch onto good strategies quickly and others won’t because of the unfamiliar aspects.

Personally my friends and I just started the game last week and had a lot of fun, we’re looking forward to continuing this weekend. And I’ve played Season 1 all the way through with two different groups and had a blast both times (so you can definitely play the game more than once if you buy a second copy.) In general I find I tend to lean toward the Dicetower crew’s gaming tastes more than Shut Up and Sit Down who seem to like somewhat dryer Euros and slightly more abstract strategy than I do (not that they don’t also like thematic games and party games). Too early to tell if that trend will continue once I get through the Season 2 campaign.
