Fascinating topic. I’ve been a psychotherapist for many years, very much influenced by the work of CG Jung. While I understand him as very controversial for some of his views on the occult, Gnosticism, etc., I actually find him closer to the Truth of Catholicism than any psychologist before or since. In fact, had it not been for him (and all of his incredible and occasionally flawed ideas) I would not have reverted back to Catholicism after 25 years away.

I just want to say that I feel very strongly that the “feminine principle” that the Catholic Church highlights - what it means to be a woman - is too narrow. Though it may sound dangerous to some, I do believe it important (ultimately for individuation and salvation) to recognize what Jungians would call the “dark feminine.” This is NOT to say that women should act it out. But to deny it is to miss something that God created when He created woman. In fact, I think Mary Magdalene - once possessed by the “sacred prostitute” - should be looked at more closely as a more realistic ‘dis-integrated’ feminine figure who became integrated (saved) through Christ. The Virgin Mary does not reveal enough about this very real aspect of human femininity (she represents something more like the divine “virgin” human).
