Today on "Step Into History" we visit Sudley Springs Ford, where the Union Army crossed right before and after the First Battle of Manassas (Bull Run). In the months following the battle, the Thornberry family are captured in numerous famous photographs with soldiers in the distance.

Garry Adelman of the American Battlefield Trust is joined by National Park Ranger Anthony Trusso to "step in" to several of the Civil War era photos at Manassas.

The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

My great Grandfather fought at the first battle of Manassas. He was from the Shenandoah area. He fought under general Thomas Jackson. He was wounded and later discharged.

BTW I like what you did with the picture.

That was an amazing video! So well done to help bring the viewer into the past. It’s interesting how open the land was. I know we sometimes fear AI, but it too can have a role in bringing the past to life. Thank you for this educational and enjoyable video and all the work necessary to create it.
