Oh please, respecting the law is bad? What about the legal ones who came here legally ? I am telling you : they have no problems! Don't try to twist stories, please. Learn the distinction between legal and illegal. If you came here on a visa and you overstayed one hour over you were done! US immigration law used to be no flexibility and no joke. Ask the people who came here legally because they'll never forget! Having a SSN or a green card was considered an honor and an achievement for legal immigrants, no entitlements of any kind! Also, it is worth mentioning, even if you were a legal immigrant when you were signing the final docs there was a paragraph stating that if at the port of entrance in the US you would be rejected you accept it and return to your country of origin.
