Protests held over Ottawa's plan to house asylum seekers

Please remember, asylum seekers are not the same as legal immigrants. Treating them as the same is disingenuous. That's why you see tax paying legal Canadian immigrants speaking out against the structures, which is fair game because the community was never consulted.

The necessities of life, most notably adequate housing, don’t just appear spontaneously. If we already have deficiencies in our supply for our domestic population, how are we expected to house the world’s asylum seekers? We’re setting them up for failure if Canadians who are established here with jobs and solid networks can’t even succeed, which has the double result of sabotaging both Canadians and those we invite in.
