i fixed it by just opening the task manager and ending all discord tasks.

Sill get Installation has failed. There was an error installing the application. Check the setup log for more information and contact the author.

You need to close discord in Task Manager including those files under "More Details" at the bottom of Task Manager. I had two more files running.

For those who continue with this problem, I found a solution that worked for me.
Go to "AppData> Local> Discord" and delete the file "Updates".
Then you must enter the program folder ("app-, etc.") and click on the "App" file. Discord will update and run automatically (or that's what worked for me)

Press Ctrl + Shift + esc and then keep scrolling down and end all discord tasks :D

Wonderful! Just worked for me! Also used Areox and Clapz advice and closed all Discord tasks using the Task Manager. Thanks for the assist!

1. downloads Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5
2. says I already have it so I get rid of it
3. navigates to windows 10 system - says I have a 64 bit operating system
4. types %appdata% into windows menu
5. checks where discord is - there's no discord file on my OS
6. re-downloads discordsetup again from link
