Synopsis: Submergence is a love story that takes us into the extremely different worlds of our two protagonists, Danielle Flinders (Alicia Vikander) and James More (James McAvoy). They meet by chance in a remote hotel in Normandy where they both prepare for a dangerous mission. They fall in love almost against their will, but soon recognize in each other the love of their lives. When they have to separate, we find out that James works for the British Secret Service. He’s involved in a mission in Somalia to track down a source for suicide bombers infiltrating Europe. Danielle ‘Danny’ Flinders is a bio-mathematician working on a deep sea diving project to support her theory about the origin of life on our planet. Soon, they are worlds apart. James is taken hostage by Jihadist fighters and has no way of contacting Danny, and she has to go down to the bottom of the ocean in her submersible, not even knowing if James is still alive…

Alicia Vikander is so so beautiful. She has lovely skin and a lovely voice, and she’s a great actor. What really fascinates me about her is the colour of her skin - sort of cafe con leche and her dark brown eyes. And very Northern European features. Some people say her skin colour is fake but that’s nonsense. That’s her natural skin colour - she’s noticed other people have said it’s fake but says it’s natural, and I believe her. How could wear tanner all over her body all the time? Or live in a tanning booth? It’s just a very unusual combination - the hark pigment and the Nordic features. She’s one of my favourites.

Wow how wrong were these poorly rated reviews from 5.4/10 IMDb, 19% Rotten Tomatoes, 38% Metacritic. I just saw this movie and its an amazing movie, masterpiece level acting by James McAvoy, Alicia Vikander was amazing as usual, amazing music score, captivating performance by McAvoy stealing the show. Great movie overall, this one made a lasting impression and will go into my library.
