This video is underrated as hell. This is probably one of the most important things to learn as a dj.

Thanks so much mate!

I’ve only been DJing professionally about 9 months now, and I was making those exact mistakes you mentioned near the end (and lost crowd support) because of my OCD wanting to match tempos and keys.

Though it messes with my OCD, using echo & reverb to transition to songs that make sense back-to-back has helped me move the vibe steadily upward while still SMOOTHLY working in some calm songs to give people a chance to get drinks.

yeah this is true, even when the next guy starts off with bangers, kinda takes a while to get back into it

A little thing you can do is to ask the DJ before you what he/she is going to end with so you know what to start with?

I’ve been DJing for 10 years and never have i ever had to worry about the key.
Asked a friend who’s been DJing for 20 years and yeah sometimes key matters, in like 2 out of 100 songs.

I'm a beginner/intermidate DJ, and i find it difficult to have a great NRG flow in my mix:
When analysing and organising my playlist for a gig, i always struggle to give an energy level to a specific track.
Any tips and tricks on how to determine/classify the energy level of tracks ?

I have only played at one place were the club Manager controlled the atmosphere. And it wasn't down to people having a banging night, it was about making purely money and if you didn't do what they said you got balled at. The instructions where simple. Maybe 2 bangers then a good hand full of chat tracks, this was only down to they wanted you to empty the dancefloor so they went to the bar to drink. I hated it and i could feel the eye's of folk burning into my back when i dropped the tempo so to speak, never mind the ballsy ones leaning over the glass guard with drink in had shouting whats this shit! This is why i like working one style only nights dedicated to house / hard house / trance what ever. People know what they are getting less hassle and folk have a good night.
