I'll take a 7/10 from Maynard and Trent

Basically, if you take the two greatest bands in the history of existence and put them together to make music, they cancel eachother out I guess?

"i'm certain we're gonna do something that ends up being 10/10"

"certain".

Passive was a kick-ass track that Trent didn't want released. It just makes you wonder if there are songs just as good that he won't release. A lot of artists of all backgrounds, often think their work came out just mediocre when others will see it as genius.

God dammit Trent... We'll gladly take that 7/10 😢

Trent and maynard are true dark geniuses of the music industry. Also feeling the dark sounds by the likes of Gary Numan, Massive Attack, Portishead, HTDA, KMFDM,
Tricky, EL-P, Unkle, AllFlaws

Musicians influences change throughout the years.  Maynard wrote a song about his kid "H.".  People's taste in different sounds change.  Just because Trent wrote more harsh music when he was younger, doesn't mean he will now.  His life has much more order and stability.  So of course his music will reflect that.

Both Trent and Maynard have grown.  So have their musical tastes.  Maybe you haters should attempt to grow as well instead of being stuck in the past.

Mediocre to him=Amazing to us, dude is definitely a perfectionist

I love that he said he was afraid to write another NIN record. That just proves how dedicated he is to his art. Whereas some bands put out an album just to put one out and sell something, Trent knew he wasn't ready, so he waited.

I think it's interesting that he says that the end result was 7/10. There are now two released tracks that are now confirmed by Maynard that they were once Tapeworm tracks. Passive (released under A Perfect Circle) and Potions (released under Puscifer). Now maybe this is just me, but I think those two songs are absolutely phenomenal, especially Potions. It just makes me wonder what the rest of the unreleased material sounds like.

Imagine all the beautiful amazing music out there that will never see the light of day due to musicians feeling insecure about their art when to fans it would be a holy triumphant!

Trent is the best interview subject. Lots of artists hate lame or repetitive interview questions (cough, Maynard, cough) but Trent always has something interesting to say. You could probably ask him his favourite colour and he would turn it into an interesting and insightful answer.

Musicians with artistic integrity. This generation isn't used to that.

Maynard and Trent are like Chocolate and Peanut Butter. Separately they're good but together it's the perfect combination. A real shame this project never went any further, these two doing a song(s) together would've been a slice of Heaven.

all of trent reznor albums are genius he puts his heart soul and pain into his music not many so called artists do that anymore anyone with a studio can make quick crap music these days.

I saw Trent perform in Winnipeg and was blown away by his sheer stage presence. One of the only bands that doesn't need studio smoothing to make it sound good.
Queens of the Stone Age opened for them, and it was full bunk by comparison.

Actually, I respect this much. What we consider awesome deserves regulation.... otherwise anyone can do it. We don't need the "crap"; many bands do this well. We want what we've come for... they (after gaining commercial appeal) deserve their fans to follow them to receive the art they deserve. (ex. river of deceit - which speaks of 90s more than any other song.)

I just wanted to thank you. Because of this list I have just spent the last hour discovering some of the best music I've ever heard.

Yes please. Maynard and Trent 10/10!

I thought tapeworm was a 9/10 but he's the one making it. I know how that goes. I have scrapped so many drawings that people would say were very decent works of art. We are our biggest critics.

One question though Trent, when has the pressure from the label ever stopped you from making anything? Maybe my view on this matter is skewed and biased by my love for you and your music.

Keep on kicking ass boys!

I saw NIN with David Bowie. The man has certainly been involved in some outstanding collaborations. I would say he's lucky, but it's probably something more like talented and respected.
