I spent two weeks learning the horn awhile back, but had to quit due to dental issues. I played trombone in the school band for a year, and own and occasionally play a cornet, so I had no issues at all making a sound. The problem was hitting the right note. Half the time, it felt like the valves did almost nothing, and I’m still convinced that the book had the wrong fingering for a D. I eventually got it, and learned a few songs. It’s quite a fun instrument, but yikes is it different. My mostly woodwind experience was not prepared for the fact that you have to prepare for the EXACT pitch you want to produce. Got the right valves, but can’t quite picture how the note or phrase sounds? The valves won’t do anything for you; you’re on your own.

Horn is an incredibly difficult instrument to learn!! I still struggle with playing the right notes because of the impossibly close partials, and I've been playing for 5 years. My tone quality is definitely better than when I started, but also definitely not great.

honestly woodwind has to be easier than brass because you just press the buttons and at blow into the instrument right and boom you get the note. For brass, however, not only to do you have blow into it right and press the right valves/buttons, but you also have to use your lips and embouchure to change the pitch as well.
