That's a coaching issue. No reason a kid that has been wrestling that long should not know that was an illegal and dangerous move.

I fail to understands why these kids are untrained. I always coached and this was ALWAYS deemed unacceptable. A lift and throw is always to take the opponent to the mat NEVER a slam. This can paralyze a kid. If you cannot train kids to not injure their opponents then get out of wrestling. This kid obviously was taught to do that .

What I also find critical is that he doesn't just let him fall, but also uses a lot of force to make the fall as hard (or fast) as possible. When you take someone down, the point is to get a good position for yourself, not injure the other person. The latter would be street fight and that has no place on the mat. To protect health, such accelerated throws should be punished much more severely.

As I was told long ago. If you lift your opponent off the ground, as soon as his feet leave the mat, you are responsible for them.

Every coach needs to teach their kids that a trapped arm slam is illegal, that was the first thing I learn when returning people to mats.
