Interesting how different people hear different things. As someone who saw the GD starting in 1970, and who is a huge Amy Helm fan, these comments are not something I agree with at all. I love Rick's take, and from the instant I saw this guy, I felt a real kindred connection to the original GD aura as interpreted by a 31 year old highly trained musician with a great voice. This version actually has evolved since the one at the Cap earlier, and the backup harmonies sound spot on too. Yeah, Amy's readings of the song are wonderful too, but to me, this is really great.

Amy Helm had a church when she played this song. Love love love the song but he seems nervous and stoic. the song is emotional and I get no emotion. There are no wavers in his voice that indicate emotion it’s weird I’m sorry. Idk how goose got as popular as they did.
