EHLT Eightmile River Bridge Construction

Показать описание
East Haddam Land Trust, in conjunction with the East Haddam Conservation Commission generated plans to install a foot bridge across the Eightmile River in East Haddam, CT. Under the supervision of mastermind bridge builder, EHLT president and Chairman of the Conservation Commission - Rob Smith - volunteers from both groups worked diligently to get it constructed before the snow fell. Part of the Grant was that it be Substantially Completed by December 31, 2015, which it was. The following week it was open to foot traffic and connects to a series of trails on protected open space through East Haddam, Lyme and Salem.

I'm glad they remembered to add rubber roofing membrane over the treated decking base frame. That will shed the water and ice off of the wood under structure and steel and help it to last many extra years. I've always used that method on everything wood outside, even on porches and decks. It makes good sense.

Great build. Thanks for sharing. I hear there are a lot of deer ticks in that area.

How were the boards on the metal beams secured to the beams? Almost every time these bridge construction videos will skip an important detail like that.
