As a boater, never jump off your boat holding a rope! As this can easily happen. Throw the rope first then safely jump (or step) off afterwards. Also make sure your coat, or other long items of clothing that can easily snag are free before stepping off. Looks harmless, but if the prop was turning he could have suffered a mortal injury.
