Ray Price City Lights Live Perfomance 1962
Ray Price City Lights Lyrics
A bright array of city lights as far as I can see
The great white way shines through the night for lonely guys like me
The cabaretes and honky tonks their flashing signs invite
A broken heart to lose itself in the glow of city lights
Lights that say forget her name in a glass of cherry wine
Lights that offer other girls for empty hearts like mine
They paint a pretty picture of a world that's gay and bright
But it's just a mask for loneliness behind those city lights
The world was dark and God made stars to brighten up the night
The God who put the stars above I don't believe made those lights
Oh it's just a place for men to cry when things don't turn out right
Just a place to run away and hide behind those city lights
Lights that say forget her love in a different athmosphere
Lights that lure are nothing but a masquarade for tears
They paint a pretty picture but my arms can't hold them tight
And I just can't say I love you to a street of city lights

Don't you hate that no one sings great songs like this in in country music anymore?

Not many had more, bigger, classic country hits then Ray Price. He'll always be the standard by which others are judged in Country Music. Real Country Music.

It's amazing how the great singers like Ray price could take a country band and bring people into a show without all the lights and fireworks and dancers d theatrics that they have to have today to put on a show

Ray Price was a great entertainer he had many god recordings. The Malpas brothers are keeping the traditional sound alive. God blees them all

A young Buddy Emmons already setting the standard for what a pedal steel should sound like 👍

My dad, born in 1935 and myself in 1985, would play this on vinyl. He passed away in April and this brightened my day.

This is COUNTRY MUSIC. This genre of music does not exist anymore, other than on these old recordings and old records. The great Buddy Emmons on pedal steel guitar. I think Ray Price was the greatest vocalist in the history of Country Music.
