Shot in stunning Italian locations, Matteo Garrone’s rich world of mystery and wonder stars Academy Award® winning actor Roberto Benigni as Geppetto, the old woodcarver whose puppet creation, Pinocchio, magically comes to life with dreams of becoming a real boy. Easily led astray, Pinocchio (nine-year-old Federico Ielapi) tumbles from one misadventure to another as he is tricked, kidnapped and chased by bandits through a wonderful world full of imaginative creatures – from the belly of a giant fish, to the Land Of Toys and the Field Of Miracles.

I'm so sick and tired of moviegoers trash-talking about this beautiful film. The reason why audiences gave this Pinocchio film such mediocre reviews is because most people are unfamiliar with the original novel by Carlo Collodi and think Pinocchio was an entirely original idea from Walt Disney. Pinocchio has its origin as a dark, twisted children's story just like all the other Disney adaptations of classic fairy tales. I'm a die-hard fan of the Collodi story and when I watched this movie, I loved it, I thought it was the definitive live action adaptation of the book. Those who keep saying "oh this movie sucked", "Pinocchio is creepy looking", "this looks so lame", "I don't want my kids seeing this", "blah, blah, blah, blah", just shut up already, you're all stupid and ignorant! Matteo Garrone did a solid job and Roberto Benigni certainly redeemed himself from his first Pinocchio film, the problem is audiences are being closed-minded. You know, kids can handle a lot more than what we give them credit for, if kids these days can play violent video games and if they can stomach the contents of Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games, which were way darker and violent, had scarier visuals and contained horrible life or death situations, they can handle the original Pinocchio, which is an innocent bedtime story compared to those other stories.

Also, I would have settled for the film being subtitled, but I'm happy that it's being dubbed, from what I've seen in this trailer, I think it seems pretty decent. And guess what? Not everybody likes reading subtitles, it can be distracting. And think about blind people who want to go see this movie, they wouldn't be able to read the subtitles so they would have to rely on it being dubbed.

I don't understand the dislikes, this movie was fantastic. A legit, borderline masterpiece. Gives ya dark, touching, epic, creepy, beautiful, and sweet. The amazing practical effects, the heartfelt performances. You can see and feel the love that went into making the film. It was as good as the story of Pinocchio could possibly get. I loved it 😊

i love this trailer. It is literally the story that most closely resembles (not to say the one told as it is) to the book of the adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collidi

Should have picked up one of the Oscar nominations. Pinocchio brilliantly portrayed by Frederico Ielapi. Loved the soundtrack. Was a bit dark in places but in the words of Brian Conley... “It’s A Puppet”!!

Looks great! Pinocchio has always been my favourite Disney movie and the coachman tavern scene along with the donkey transformation scene traumatised me as a kid. But that's why I love it now, haha! It's truly a very deep and thought-provoking story, extremely relevant today in relation to Hollywood, the elites, exploitation of young actors, paedophilia, as well as the general encouragement for all of us to indulge in pleasures and avoid responsibility for our actions!

In any case, it's amazing that the country of origin of the story has made a live-action movie which is true to the book. That would make it so much more authentic than if it was remade by Disney again, like all the others.

How could Disney never follow this or learn from this as an example to remake Disney's Pinocchio? This is even better because:
- It didn't always rely on CGI.
- It followed the original material more closely.
- It used more practical effects to make sure that the characters look and feel better.

This is the best Pinocchio adaptation so far compared to Disney and Guillermo Del Toro s version. Its not just glamour like what others have its conveying and delivering what the author wants us to see! Salute to all who made this you made a wonderful job! Two thumbs up!
