Today we saw a Dev for SWTOR responded to a community member, and it pretty much said the quiet part out loud and shined a spotlight on what's going on--or not going on--in this game!

Boomy, my friend, you are never wrong.

Boomy, we're not going to get any major content like a World of Warcraft expansion. I think they're just going milk existing content in SWTOR for as long as they can. Just adding small content here and there.

new classes and class stories would be nice, several years ago you would see at least 100 people on Dromund Kass at 2am, now its like 30 tops, starter planets are kind of indicative of the health of the game as it shows how many new players are playing. Seems much lower now.

Well said! I totally agree 100% and feel the same way about SWTOR. I really hope things get better for SWTOR down the road.

We already know a lot of the problems. Just after the "10 year celebration" was announced, they lost their cost center funding within the broader rubric of EA (via BioWare). This means a whole crap-ton of plans had to be dropped. The reason this happened was due to continued mismanagement around projections. Even before Broadsword, they lost their Star Wars Story Group leverage. So they had to focus only on what was "relevant" and "non-intrusive" to however Star Wars was going to develop in the broader media. Some people feel that this is what precipitated the move to BroadSword. That was part of it. Some other aspects had to do with Section 174, with various cost center R&D budgets being cut.

That background track pretty much sums up my feelings about SWTOR. I salute all the people I enjoyed this game with o7.

Well said Boomy. Savor the good memories of SWTOR, and be mindful for the inevitable bumpy road ahead. May the Force be with you!

I saw Andy's tweet, and his follow up, and I'm going to be in the minority here, but I could care less what players like Andy, or the loudmouths on twitter or some discord say. Just because he's "been in the beta". If someone says "I'm unsubscribing!", then why should I listen to their opinion about a game if they are unsubscribing? (I also never believe someone when they say they are unsubscribing, but thats a different story).

Maybe Jackie should't have replied (But with the way some players act towards her compared to her CM predecessors, I don't entirely blame her for replying) but It feels like people are falling all over themselves to defend Andy just because he said something they agree with. He should have worded it better.

"Meaningful content" is different for each person, and when Andy decides to tear down the story fans to raise up the Raiders/PVPers just adds to the impression that the Raider and PVP community are toxic. Even if we got new PVP and Raid content, players like Andy would plow through it in a month, then we'd be back to square one, and that section of the community would have nothing to do.

We don't have the money that WoW has (Although, compared to Blizzard recently, Broadsword is far more stable), so I don't expect a return to the roadmaps, since they still have to go through the approval process from Lucasfilm Games, then EA, then (Most likely) whomever is above Keith at Broadsword.

How am I just seeing this video? Boomy you’re spot on with this. I know people think I’m so positive shill for the game. But I just want more PvP content, that’s all I’ve ever wanted. I appreciate you making this!

I really want to see more operations added into SWTOR because I'm doing R-4 Anomaly SM for almost 2 years straight and I have fully cleared it 19 times, I also like to do Gods and Dxun because they are the only challenging operations to do on SM, the reason why R-4 Anomaly is hard even on SM is because Bioware (now Broadsword) want us to keep playing it until we all succeed.

Kinda wish they extend the date nights. Felt to short for me, but I feel like there are heading toward the right direction, (its just very slow). Hoping for a Vette Date Night

imo things went downhill with the game, when they mixed everyone together in that 'outlander' package, don't get me wrong, the ideas of KotFE and KotET are interesting, but the way they made it is terrible, we could've had new entire storylines for each class, going separate ways and maybe converging at the end, in the way of killing the emperor, but now the premise of the game of you choosing your path, dialogue choices having meaning, is basically gone.
1 - We need first to separate gear from PvP and PvE, so we can have proper class balance, and not the discrepancy from Hatred to Marksman we have right now.
2 - We also need Ranked PvP back, the worst decision they made was to remove that, and give us that season BS.
3 - New OPS should be an yearly thing, with SM and HM coming in the first part of year, maybe up to march so people can test in those first months, and maybe at around september we receive the NIM version of that OPS.
4 - One thing that is overlooked, is the graphics difference, we need a complete retexture of the game, in some newer content we can see a huge difference, specially in skins, where the old ones are weird and potato-ish, while the newer characters, have very detailed faces.

Good video! It's crazy to say it, But i've never ever wanted swtor to be more "down to earth" than now... Let go of the huge responsibility of being a galactic defender and explore other ways of progressing the story, maybe by leaving the alliance. It would be amazing to be able to play with a new set of crewmates while leaving the Alliance in the hands of either Lana, Theron or whomever else could fit whilst still remaining as experienced and powerful as you used to be. Maybe make individual progressions for all stories, the Jedi knight becomes a war general kinda like Obi wan or anakin progressing the current story as planned, the consular becomes a more simple Jedi leading small expeditions around the galaxy seeking enlightment or new cultures to befriend, the inquisitor goes down a path similar to the early days of Tenebrae/vitiate, the warrior makes a claim for the imperial throne and creates his own standalone powerbase like Angral/Malgus with no alignment to Vowrawn/Acina, the bounty hunter challenges mandalore or goes to become an imperial warlord counterpart to the jedi knight, the smuggler is given an honorary rank as an admiral or goes to fight against slavery by waging a small war on hutts, the trooper retires from the republic military whilst still secretly working for the SIS fighting war with guerilla resistances on outer rim planets governed by dictators, the Agent explores Iokath and goes searching for Jadus whilst attaining leverage over both the empire and republic, You get the idea, something more individual and reminiscent of the old class stories while still having that uniqueness of KOTFE, KOTET and Onslaught. But idk, it seems more than impossible.

The devs being thin-skinned is an understatement, lol. They ban people left and right on the forums and in their twitch chat if you dare even slightly have any criticism

You’re not wrong Boomy, for one thing Jackie should’ve never replied back because coming from working in Corrections, she’s just adding fuel to the fire which is what he wanted and she played right into his hands. And you’re also right that BroadSword isn’t listening to what the community wants. With that being said, I play swtor not because of some obligation. I play swtor because I love Star Wars. It’s sad to see a game I love crash and burn like this.

Swtor going to broadsword wasa blessin in disguise, given that bioware is having issues.

I believe that broadsword will finsh most of what bioware was working on.

Beyond that is anyones guess. But the game is still paying for itself which is good.

Casual and solo players keep the game going. Small dev team/budget. So they make the best "small" content they can. There will be no new "big" content without an influx of money. No amount of wish-thinking will change that. The SWTOR situation has been trending this way for many years. I don't think there is any "quiet part" or secret here, it's been obvious. It may have been better for Jackie to not respond, however to characterize Jackie's response as "nasty", that's absurd.

Here is the thing. I loved SWTOR. I played every story (legendary flare) I did MM flashpoints and geared, and did operations. When they sold the game to this company, I left for good. Star Wars the Old Republic is in maintenance mode. Any new content that is added to the game will be minor and pointless. There is no new story coming, no massive maps or operations or flashpoints. Companies like broadsword are basically where games go to die. It is a hard reality, but it is the reality.

I do agree this game has always overdone certain people. Revan, Malgus, Emperor, Mandalorians.... there has to be something different than Jedi/Sith and Mandalorians. Underworld factions? Military factions? Heck, Ewoks, I dont care. They seem to just recycle characters instead of creating new characters. Tbh I'm already over Sahar.

we need an imperial trooper, an SIS agent, a new sith and a new jedi, 4 new class stories, imagine how great that'd be
