A self-signed certificate is an identity certificate that is signed with its own private key. While it is not recommended to install self-signed certificates in servers receiving anonymous traffic, self-signed certificates have do have their place. Web communication occurring within intranets, development servers, and personal sites dealing with non-critical information typically rely on self-signed certificates for data transfer. This tutorial video demonstrates how Key Manager Plus—the encryption key management solution from ManageEngine—helps enterprises create, deploy, renew and manage the life cycle of self-signed certificates from a single, unified interface.

All you did is use a fancy tool to create a Certificate Signing request. You skipped the how-to get that .csr file signed by a CA and how to install it for example in ServiceDesk Plus.
