Is YouTube Promotion Worth it for Small Creators?

Wow, I was really surprised. YouTube promotions, they actually work and can get you subscribers fast. However, is YouTube promotion worth it for small creators? That's the question. I started asking myself as I began to test out the feature myself and study other Youtubers, who have done various promotions. This video is my findings. I hope you like it.

I noticed that genuine subscribers will notify you when they subscribe to your channel, whereas fake or unverified accounts won’t send any notifications

I once did a promotion that I think really hurt my channel, and I will never do it again. When you gain organic subscribers, sometimes you can see who they are if their profile allows it, but with the promotion, there were zero subscribers that were visible. I wouldn't be surprised if they were mostly bots even. It also destroyed my video, with watch time dropping to mere seconds. Additionally, I lost all these promotion subscribers within a year or so after the promotion: for every new subscriber I gained I was miraculously losing one or two. This never happened before or since then. So, never again. If you post nice, valuable content, people will eventually follow and value you. This creates a strong bond, as they join you on your journey and watch your channel grow. There are no shortcuts here if you want meaningful relationships.

Thanks, Brian. Appreciate ya. That promotion went down pretty much the way I figured it would. Always better to just hone the skills, do the things, and learn how to grow and get views organically. I do think the promotions might be a good idea if you are already established, get a lot of views, but have some sort of sponsored video or something where you are promoting something special as well, and you just want to get the word out as much as possible on it and don't mind spending a little to get it to pop just a little better.

Brian G Johnson TV.. Isn't it against YouTubes policy & guidelines to buy subs and views? If so, how is it ok to do this through "promotions"? Is YouTube saying it's against our policy & guidelines but... if you do it through us it's okay? And if it's not against YouTubes policy & guidelines why is everyone so against it?

I used to promote specific videos of my reviews. Then I decided to just use my channel trailer as the one to promote, as an introduction to what my channel is about.

I also heard that in India they use the subscribe button like we use the like button. If you're just after subscribers promote in India. Not that I'd ever do that.

If YouTube’s goal is to keep people on the platform and find content they will watch this will likely hurt them as content that isn’t good will now be elevated. It won’t last unless big creators will simultaneously lose the push they get based on their size. It doesn’t make sense for YouTube unless they put in major rules about what can be promoted, or they’re showing your video to
Bots and the subs are not real

I've done one campaign for the purpose of introducing a new tool that I was promoting. In addition to greater than average views and subs, I was successful in getting more people to make purchases than other tools I've promoted. Now, was it the tool, the promotion, or my improved skills? I wasn't displeased with the results but it's very clear to me that promotions are not for everyone. They serve a purpose but must be well planned and not used just to gain subs.

I was going to try one video a week for $5. The targeting is interesting, for example, I'm bilingual and I want to make more videos in French (it's my mother tongue. I do subtitle in English.) but 93% of my audience is English speaking. (though I wonder if they calculate Canada as 100% anglo... I'm from Québec and we account for 25% of Canada's population - mostly French-speaking. So maybe I do have more francophone viewers than I thought...) Targeting a French language video to Canada and France will allow me to find new French speaking viewers. I'm going to try it!

What do you think about a short YT promotion for one specific music video that has strong potential to catch on ( for another channel I run). So, target the video not the page and get it to more viewers who if they like may share. Thinking I may avoid some of the fake likes and subs that way? The real ones will stay?
