Currently limited tools exist to accurately forecast the complex nature of disease spread across the globe. Dr Moritz Kraemer will talk about the dynamic global maps being built, at 5km resolution, to predict the invasion of new organisms under climate change conditions and continued unplanned urbanisation.

Moritz's research addresses questions related to the spatial spread of infectious diseases. Specifically he is concerned with the integration of epidemiological, spatial and genomic data and how novel insights can be best used to reduce the burden of infectious pathogens through effective intervention strategies.

Moritz finished his DPhil in 2017 and is now a Branco Weiss Research Fellow in the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford and an Oxford Martin Visiting Fellow on the Oxford Martin Programme on Pandemic Genomics.

I'd imagine a lot more people are interested in this sort of video now than when it was published.
