I love the production on the two RR records, it doesn't sound like anything else. Completely opposite from Black Sabbath production (which I also love), it doesn't quite sound like a band playing in a live room, it sounds alien. There are more pop sensibilities too, notice how the guitars come down a bit when Ozzy starts singing, and his voice is huge compared to Sabbath records. It sounds like there is a bit of a stereo chorus affect on vocals. Bob Daisley's bass playing and tone also sound just as crazy as Randy's tone and playing. Some people gripe about Randy's tone but I love it, it's very unique and works in the mix.
