To pass the time, she started to sing the "99 bottle of beer" song. After an agonizing hour and 12 minutes, help finally arrived and the elevator doors were pried open. I managed a high rise complex for a BIG oil company. Weekdays, 8 AM to 4 PM, there was an elevator tech on premises. Likewise, two of the security supervisors had training (and a key) to open elevators, With a BIG event, like THE San Diego Comic Con, the hotel company should just keep an OT shift of elevator techs on premises. It's only a week. Because, if a fire department has to open an elevator, there will be 10k (at least) in damage to the elevator. So, 2k versus 10k? Pretty simple math to me.

But I guess that type of explanation takes more than 10 seconds.
