Never heard of the original, but after playing this on 1.25x speed, makes this sounds like KC’s own rendition, but much better. Might be me thinking that way, but all due respect to the original and its originator, Fiona.

She's a wonderful singer and has a beautiful voice... but this is out of her vocal range and her considerable technical excellence can't hide it. The song sounds almost happy.

This is a decent cover, but I agree. No one should ever cover Fiona unless they truly improve upon the song. Which she didn’t.
