as a D2 HC veteran of 20+ years, I'm glad I went softcore for D4. I died more than I thought I would, especially after the campaign at 50+

Playing hardcore, there is such a thing called a good RIP, this is one of them imo, so good run to Shroudy :D . When i got hit by fear the first few times in this game i already know it will be a deadly mechanic in lategame, one bad hit and your char is gone.

Fear is the best mechanic in RPG games: after smashing and bashing demons and gods, some peepsqueek shouts at you and you run off to the edge of the universe. Oh yes, lovely.. (btw u had a way out if u used earthern bulwark, cut it makes u unstoppable)

Good on him to leave the game fast after dying to lower the mob difficulty for his party and reducing chances of more deaths. A lot of people linger on the death screen while essentially buffing the enemies!

at least he did not die to a chest mechanic. That was my first death in softcore.

Just lost my hardcore today in one of the Ice Clan cave dungeons. There are trap rooms that lock you in and spawn a bunch. It spawned 2 big guys with stuns and 2 shamans with freeze. I got stunlocked to death, pretty unavoidable :S

i would never do a hardcore diablo 4 character, death is so unexpected and bound to happen much faster than like... world of warcraft

Acknowledging the merit and excitement that comes with playing a Hardcore character, I understand that the intense focus and enjoyment can be appealing. However, personally, I find it difficult to justify the effort involved in this playstyle since a single mistake can result in losing everything and having to start from scratch. This aspect seems somewhat illogical to me. Additionally, even if a player manages to progress to higher levels, there's still the risk of being defeated and having to restart after investing a significant amount of time, say 20 to 40 hours. Considering these factors, I believe the Hardcore mode can be quite frustrating.

People hating on HC have no idea what it's about and are probably either new to these types of games or just bad at gaming in general. All you need is to play slower and more methodical. You actually care about the defensiveness in your build. I died on my first trip through the desert towards Act 4 but I learned to avoid the fucking tornadoes and next char I made it through, still super scary with the constant damage from the sandstorm. Pulse was through the roof but the satisfaction of WINNING at the end of it... SC could never bring that same feeling. The satisfaction from progressing can't be compared to the brainlessness of SC. There you just bumrush through all content since you can't lose. Where's the fun in that?
